Unexpected Server Failure!

Wasn’t planning on missing a mix for the podcast this week but that’s what happened thanks to an unexplained complication over at Host Gator. I’ve been running djkconn.com with them for close to two decades and they have always been straight forward up until recently. It all started a couple months back when they jacked up my rate 3x the amount due to space consumption. Whatever. Little on the high side but I was too lazy to move everything and go through the hassle of migrating over to a new provider so I bit the bullet. Fast forward to 2 days ago, I notice my email isn’t working. Log in and notice the entire server had been wiped clean. No notice, No email, No explanation. Tech support tells me multiple times it’s a hardware issue and its being resolved. I’m a very patient person so I wait another 24 hours. Wake up, log in. crickets….I am however able to upload this time so I put a simple html txt file that says “Working on it” so people don’t think I missed a payment on my domain. *sad laugh* During this time I have been aggressively shopping around for a new web host because unfortunately, I think they have left me high and dry. Seeing reddit users having similar issues, I started to assume I am part of a targeted group users that are running resource heavy websites. Another 3 hours goes by and I noticed my little html txt file is gone. Log in AGAIN. Server crashed a 2nd time or so they say. With what little recovery they had done in the past 48 hours had been wiped clean..At this point I have decided to cut my losses and my 18 year relationship with Host Gator and start a new. So please excuse the mess as I try my best to rebuild from the ground up right now. I lost a total of 3 websites over this. One of which I will never be able to recover. Fortunately I have a local drive here in my studio with backups for djkconn.com. As of right now I have only re-uploaded the newest content for the podcast.
